Last week, I had the opportunity to preview Heart of Biddeford's new walking tour, debuting this summer. We strolled through downtown on a sunny morning, enjoyed snacks from local businesses (including the best falafel I've ever had at Layalina) and heard stories from entrepreneurs.
It was a great experience, and I'm sure locals and visitors alike will enjoy the tour this summer!
In this week's newsletter: Read about the Heart of Biddeford's "Homecoming Tour," a public art effort at Five Points, and the proposed York County budget.
As always, feel free to email me with story ideas and photos!

Each year, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife holds the Maine Migratory Waterfowl Stamp Art Contest. This year, Biddeford artist Rebekah Lowell won first prize with her bufflehead painting. Her painting will become a collectible 2025 duck stamp which raises funds for Maine waterfowl conservation and management.
Lowell's original artwork displays anatomical accuracy for the species, depicts Maine habitat, and has composition and color that will be just as striking when reduced to the size of a stamp.
No stranger to the contest, Lowell's artwork has been chosen for five other Maine duck stamps since 2011. Read more here. |
