June 11, 2026

My step count took a nosedive in December and has yet to make a full recovery.

Walking outside is my preferred form of exercise, but the icy conditions early this winter just made it too treacherous. Once they seemed to improve and I returned to the sidewalks of Portland, I immediately fell. Twice.

Now, I'm taking it day by day, and step by cautious step, making observations about walking in winter along the way. I'd like to hear yours, too. Tell me the streets you know to avoid, your tips and tricks for staying upright or the tales of when you failed to.

- Until next week,

Leslie
