Maine winter sports enthusiasts are beaming with pride after several athletes from our great state secured berths at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games over the past week.
Watching the Olympics as a child was always so exciting! Figure skating, the luge and bobsledding were my favorites, along with the gravity-defying ski jump.
This year, several Mainers have proved themselves to be among the best of the best and will be competing in Italy. Team USA includes: Carrabassett Valley downhill skier Sam Morse; Bethel bobsledder Frank Del Duca; Bethel snowboarder Nathan Pare; Falmouth native luger Emily Fischnaller; former University of Maine hockey goalie Jeremy Swayman; among other athletes with ties to Maine.
The Games will be held Feb. 6-22, so tune in and cheer on our athletes!
In this week's newsletter: WinterKids get outdoors, dining at area ski resorts, Carrabassett Valley youth on national team, and a new UMF art exhibit.
Stay well.
