Hi everyone,
On Tuesday, Feb. 3, an "altercation" on Kennie Drive in Standish led to the death of one man and another being injured.
Police were called to a home just before 9:30 p.m. and found one man dead and another hurt. The injured man was taken to a hospital with injuries that aren’t believed to be life-threatening, according to a news release from state police.
The victim's body was taken to the office of the chief medical examiner in Augusta, where he was identified as 23-year-old Thomas Foster, of Porter. The cause of death was determined to be a shotgun wound, and the manner of death a homicide.
Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine State Police, said the investigation remains ongoing, and that there is no danger to the public.
A correction from last week's newsletter: The 'Around Town' piece on William Doyle being hired as New Gloucester town manager incorrectly said he was formerly executive director of the National Correctional Employees Union. Doyle currently holds that position.
Also in this week's newsletter: Incoming New Gloucester town manager discusses plans for the town, Windham Watershed Protection grants, Sebago bicentennial, and more.
