Covering the communities of Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach

Winter is one of my favorite seasons. I love the cold, crisp air, the way the sunlight reflects off of the snow, and the way the trees look after snowfall. It's a time of year to get cozy, turn on the fireplace, and read a book about fictional characters getting lost in the snowy wilderness (can you tell I love thrillers?).

It's also a great time of year to get outside. I know, that sounds wrong, but snow activities are some of the best, in my opinion. I love to ski now, but as a kid, the best thing in the world was sledding. And who wouldn't love sledding down a giant hill in the middle of downtown Biddeford?

Next month, you can do just that at the annual Biddeford WinterFest, and you can read more about it in this newsletter.

In this week's newsletter: Read about Old Orchard Beach considering limiting car camping, Saco's brand new city councilor, and Biddeford mayor responds to rumors of increased ICE presence.

As always, feel free to email me with story ideas and photos!

Thanks for reading,

- Sydney Richelieu

COMMUNITY VOICES/AROUND TOWN

It has come to the Biddeford Fire Department's attention that there is a person or group calling residents saying they are raising funds for a new fire truck for the City of Biddeford.

The Fire Department would like the community to know that the department does not fundraise in this manner, and are not currently fundraising for a new fire truck. A purchase such as that would be handled through the City's budgeting process.

Read more here, or contact the Biddeford Fire Department with any questions or concerns.
