Happy Monday, Skowhegan!
I'm back on vacation this week, hoping to unplug from technology and focus more on family, nature and reading. I hope all of you are finding time this summer to unwind and embrace the things that mean the most to you.
Here's a great opportunity: we're searching for a Skowhegan-area freelancer to take over this newsletter! We'd like to find someone local with writing experience and an interest in newsletter curation. If you're interested in learning more, please email Managing Editor Scott Monroe at: smonroe@metln.org and put "Skowhegan Now freelance" in the subject line.
Please don't hesitate to email me with submissions about upcoming events or other community contributions to be included in this newsletter. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks for reading. Until next time, — Alex Lear |

| THE WAY IT WAS IN SKOWHEGAN |

Aug. 12, 1972: "The Skowhegan State Fair will explode today on the entertainment front, sparks from this detonation flying in several directions of amusement.
"One of these avenues, and the one which will set the theme for the eight-day event, will be the special "Five Flags Expo," a salute to the flags of the United States, Canada, State of Maine, Province of Quebec and Province of New Brunswick."
