Good evening. As a possible federal government shutdown looms, Maine Sen. Susan Collins said Monday that such a shutdown at the end of this month would have serious consequences, including the closure of national parks and federal offices. Rep. Jared Golden says he is joining with colleagues on a bipartisan bill to continue the current level of funding until Jan. 11,  along with specific funding to support Ukraine and other provisions.

The University of Maine System is getting creative to entice people with partially completed college degrees to return. The program, dubbed Finish Strong, will use $750,000 in grant money to provide financial incentives, including a $300 payment upon enrollment for returning UMaine students and a buy-one-get-one-free discount on courses.
