THIS WEEK IN THE MIDCOAST: It was a strange week in the news, with a pair of bomb threats frustrating Topsham school administrators and families, and a rescue on the Kennebec River after a sailboat capsized. Brunswick's old fire station could be getting new life as a brewery and apartments if the council decides to back the plan. In addition, it's time for us to start gearing up for the 2023 elections, so be sure to read up on the issues you'll be seeing on the ballot. We'll be bringing previews of your local races in coming weeks.

Finally, please welcome Luna Soley, our new reporter covering Freeport, Topsham, Bowdoinham, Phippsburg and a few other area communities. She's getting her feet wet in the area and you may see her around town or covering a local meeting.
