Rangeley area businesses were well-represented last week at the Greater Franklin County Readers' Choice awards. Representatives from businesses across several
categories enthusiastically supported each other as Rangeley was recognized again and again.
Winners included Rangeley Health and Wellness, Mountain Miracles Med Spa, and Morton & Furbish Real Estate. Many local businesses were also named as finalists.

Facing overcrowding and rising costs, sheriffs in Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties have proposed establishing a regional jail.
Trails for Rangeley Area Coalition is 30! A lot has evolved with the outdoor group since it was formed in 1995. One thing has remained constant, participants of this volunteer-led hiking, kayaking and biking group thrive on time outside, physical exercise and social interaction.

Here is everything you need to know about Maine's Bigfoot Festival in Eustis Saturday, Oct. 18, and Sunday, Oct. 19.
Rangeley Friends of the Arts will host an artist reception celebrating the works of Kelly Desrosiers, titled, “The Textured World”, on Friday, Oct. 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Lakeside Gallery, 2493 Main St. The exhibit will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 10.
The 33nd Annual Phillips Scarecrow Reunion will be held Sunday, Oct. 12 through Saturday, Oct. 18, in the lot adjacent to routes 4 and 142. Here is information on how to send your scarecrow creation to the reunion.
Rangeley Social Stitchers meets on Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. at Moose Alley, 2809 Main St. If you are a knitter, crocheter or stitcher, stop by with whatever project you are working on for a social stitching session.

Oct. 10, 2010: The Rangeley Highlander featured a photo of Rangeley Lakes middle school students during an overnight trip to Acadia National Park. During the trip, students explored the park, Fort Knox, and marine biology.
