Good morning,
On Thursday, Responsible Pet Care in Paris announced on its Facebook page that all of its feline kennels were filled, meaning it currently cannot intake even one cat.
"Until we have some adoptions we are closed to taking surrendered cats or stray cats. This puts us in a hard situation," the post stated.
Many fans of the shelter's Facebook page chimed in to help how they could, with some followers tagging friends, offering to foster, and one person replying they could not take one but will sponsor the fee for another adopter.
To prompt cat adoptions the shelter is discounting them by $20 this and next weekend. Community members who would like to adopt a cat or kitten should go to RPC's website to complete an application.
Shelter hours are Friday through Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m.
Do you have room in your heart to take in a companion that pays back dividends of snuggles and purrs?
Thanks for reading,
Nicole Carter

Norway's Select Board approved a consent agreement with Crooked River property owner Jonathan Shilalis, resolving six code and resource protection violations. Even as Shilalis' lawyer Sam Hamilton of Verrill Dana asserted the $32,500 settlement would "make the town whole," board members felt the penalties did not match the damage and violations the Airbnb owner was cited for.

A bizarre criminal case that dates back to 2017 and not investigated until the victim's remains were found two years later took another dramatic turn last week. Vernelle Jackson, now 87, of Norway was charged with abuse of a corpse and two charges of theft by unauthorized taking. Jackson was expected to plead guilty to the charges Friday but then told the judge presiding over the case she was not guilty of one of the theft charges. Between 2017 and 2019 she cashed social security and
retirement benefits for a deceased person she was caretaker for, after burying the victim in her back yard. The case now goes to trial.
