Another balloon festival is in the books – though it didn't go quite as planned.

Most balloons weren't able to make it off the ground last weekend, hampered by uncooperative weather. Fortunately, there was plenty of entertainment on the field to keep people busy.

"The overwhelmingly positive feedback we've received suggests this event was an exceptional success, especially considering the limited time frame of just two months to organize it and of course, the weather," said Nate Libby, the festival administrator and assistant director of Lewiston's Economic and Community Development Department.

A couple of local pilots did take off Friday evening, though. “We had a really awesome flight,” said Jim Rodrigue of Androscoggin Balloon Adventures.

Despite the launch cancellations, our staff photographers captured the magic of the festival – and so did our readers! Check out our reader photo gallery and be sure to vote for your favorite photo.
